In the Redland area, 20 miles (about 35 km) from Miami, there is a farm that grows citrus fruits and other local exotic fruits. Its owners, Peter and Dennis Schnebli, have turned it into a popular agritourism destination. The idea to transform the farm into a unique winery was suggested to them in 2003 by their friend Bill Wagner, a winery owner. The concept was to make wine not from grapes, but from local tropical fruits. Peter’s own experiments with fruit, as well as advice and recipes from his longtime friend Doug Knapp, also a winery owner, helped establish the production of this unusual wine.

In 2011, this enterprising couple decided to expand their business, began brewing beer, and founded the Miami Brewing Company, which soon rose to a leading position in the still-young beer market in South Florida. And in 2014, they added the RedLander restaurant, which prepares dishes exclusively from local ingredients grown only in Florida. Today, the Schnebly name is associated with these three brands.

A visit to the Schnebli Winery is particularly interesting because tourists can participate in the production process—for example, by stomping fruit in a barrel, just like Adriano Celentano’s character in the film *The Taming of the Shrew*. During the tour of the winery, experts explain the methods of harvesting and sorting the fruit, as well as the unique features and secrets of making wine and beer. In the tasting room, the finest varieties of wine and beer are offered for sampling, and visitors can take home the glasses and mugs they used as branded souvenirs (and they receive a discount on the tasting for their next visit!). Beverages you enjoyed can be purchased in the gift shop.

The company’s management offers gifts to birthday celebrants: upon presentation of valid ID, they receive free admission to the farm on Friday or Saturday and a free wine tasting, with the option to purchase a souvenir glass within 7 days of their birthday.

Families with children will also enjoy visiting the Miami Brewing Company. The farm features a playground, and young visitors can enjoy juices made from local fruits and other non-alcoholic beverages.

Whether it’s a seasonal wine or beer, or a new item on the RedLander restaurant menu, a visit to the Schnebli Farm will always offer new flavors, aromas, and experiences!

Attention! Please note that although Prohibition has long been repealed in the U.S., in the state of Florida, individuals under the age of 21 are prohibited from consuming alcoholic beverages, and this prohibition applies to foreign nationals as well.

Note: It’s convenient to combine a tour of the Schnelby Winery with a visit to Coral Castle.
