Jackson Memorial Hospital
Jackson Memorial Hospital (often abbreviated as JMH), commonly referred to simply as “Jackson,” is one of the oldest medical facilities in Miami-Dade County, located in the Miami Health District, also known as the Civic Center. It was founded in 1918 and initially had only 13 beds. Over the course of a century, Jackson Memorial Hospital has grown into the county’s largest general hospital, with 1,550 beds. It serves as the teaching hospital for the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. In 2015, Jackson Memorial Hospital received one out of a possible five stars based on the results of the Medicare.gov Hospital Compare survey.
The maternity ward at Jackson Memorial handles 6,500 births per year. Experienced specialists, modern equipment, and comfortable rooms—these are all the “pros” of the hospital that make it a popular choice for childbirth.
At Jackson Memorial Hospital, there is a tradition of throwing a small celebration with cake for mothers and their babies before they are discharged from the hospital. All of this makes the stay at JMH positive, memorable, and unforgettable.
