Or how pregnancy can affect your appearance.
A concern shared by every woman—her appearance. More specifically, how pregnancy will affect it. Undoubtedly, there are some changes you simply cannot control. For example, weight gain is inevitable, due to logical physiological processes (fetal growth, increased amniotic fluid, growth of the placenta and enlargement of the uterus, and breast enlargement in preparation for lactation). However, many changes can be fully managed and will disappear in the first few months after childbirth.
You should always remember that a woman’s attractiveness comes from daily self-care, which manifests not only (and not so much) in personal grooming, but also in a healthy lifestyle, proper and balanced nutrition, and sufficient sleep. You’ll agree that all of this is important and should be maintained regardless of whether you’re expecting.
So, let’s discuss what changes your appearance will undergo during pregnancy.
Body
As your belly grows, your body changes too: your breasts enlarge, a dark pigmented line may appear on your belly, and moles may become more prominent. Your figure may also change (because the pelvic bones spread apart in preparation for the baby’s birth). In addition, many women develop stretch marks during pregnancy (in areas where the skin stretches the most, namely on the breasts and belly). It is believed that stretch marks are hereditary. However, as experience shows, even if all your relatives have stretch marks, it doesn’t necessarily mean you will get them too. There is a second factor that influences the presence of stretch marks—skin elasticity. The more elastic the skin, the fewer stretch marks!
Skin
The skin also undergoes many changes. Increased pigmentation, dryness, and the possible appearance of problem areas (especially in the first trimester). It’s important to remember that the skin suffers mainly due to hormonal changes in the body, so don’t try to treat it, experiment with new skincare products, or remove pigmentation spots. Everything will go away after childbirth! But you can help your skin cope with this stress. To do this, don’t forget to drink water! There’s nothing better than plain water; it’s the only thing capable of restoring the body’s water balance. No juices, let alone carbonated drinks, tea, or coffee, will help you do this! By the way, if you feel nauseous after a glass of water, add a slice of lemon and a mint leaf to the water. It helps!
During this period, you should avoid creams and cleansers that can dry out your skin. Do not use scented products or those containing alcohol, as they can trigger an allergic reaction. Your goal is to keep your skin as hydrated as possible! Opt for natural cosmetics, and be sure to consult your doctor before choosing a new product.
Teeth and Nails
Teeth and nails suffer particularly badly during pregnancy, all because the baby needs calcium for growth, and so the mother shares her calcium to the fullest!
Hair
Thanks to hormones—estrogens—hair grows better and falls out less often during pregnancy! Sometimes a woman may notice her hair condition worsening. Typically, oily hair becomes even oilier, and dry hair becomes drier. In this case, choosing the right shampoo or hair mask can help improve the situation. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by how thick your hair becomes! Whether or not to dye your hair during this period is your choice. At the same time, there is a higher risk of allergic reactions to hair dye. Opt for plant-based and ammonia-free dyes.
All genius is simple! So don’t put unnecessary strain on your body; let it rest, and provide it with comfort and coziness. Treat yourself to some self-care, vitamins, and rest! You have a wonderful journey ahead of you that will last a lifetime!
And yes, you are the most charming and attractive! After all, you’re not just pregnant—you’re carrying a new life within you. And that’s truly something to admire!
