Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood
The Maternity Ward at Memorial Hollywood
The hospital’s maternity ward is called Family Birthplace. The ward has 53 beds in 39 rooms (including 14 suites). The rooms provide the most comfortable conditions for new mothers, comparable to the luxury of high-end hotels.
- modern, stylish interiors, convenient closets, cribs, changing tables, built-in safes for storing belongings, sofas and armchairs for new mothers and visitors;
- The rooms are bright, with well-designed lighting, and offer a wonderful view from the windows;
- A DVD player;
- A full and varied meal plan (including delicious fresh cookies ☺).
For expectant fathers who have decided to be present during childbirth, as well as for relatives and guests, we offer spacious rooms equipped with sofas, a telephone, a TV, and a shower. They can eat at the café, which is open 24 hours a day.
The department is staffed by certified neonatologists, anesthesiologists, midwives, and nurses who care for newborns. All specialists have experience in resolving problematic situations and managing complications during pregnancy and childbirth.
The maternity ward is equipped with a reliable electronic security system: internal surveillance cameras and electronic sensors allow staff to monitor the health of the mother and baby around the clock.
At Memorial Hollywood Hospital, expectant mothers receive attentive care from the very first weeks of pregnancy. Not only are they under the supervision of an obstetrician-gynecologist, but they can also attend classes (even with their partners) that provide emotional and physical preparation for a successful delivery.
Family Birthplace is rightly considered the best perinatal center in the state of Florida.

A Bit of History
This hospital is named after the legendary Joe DiMaggio (Joseph Paul Joe DiMaggio), one of the greatest players in the history of baseball. On September 17, 1992, this man—famous not only in America but around the world—cut the ribbon at the hospital’s opening. According to a friend, Joe said that having a children’s hospital named after him meant more to him than being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Joe DiMaggio’s name helped raise nearly $4 million for the hospital, but he himself also provided significant financial support to this medical institution over the course of several years. In his words: “No child should be denied care, even if their parents cannot afford it.”
Today, Joe DiMaddio Children’s Hospital is a large four-story building covering nearly 17,000 square feet. It is staffed by approximately 650 experienced specialists in obstetrics and gynecology. They are ready to provide assistance with complicated deliveries at any time of the day or night. The hospital features an oncology center, six operating rooms, and neonatal intensive care units, all equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment. The children’s hospital team works not only with the children but also with their families to best meet their needs. Young patients are surrounded by bright colors and whimsical themed decorations, which give them healing power. Comfortable rooms, high-quality, nutritious meals, and access to movies, video games, the internet, and educational programs—all of this also contributes to successful treatment.
