The dream cruise ship, aptly named the Disney Dream, set sail on its maiden voyage in 2011. It is owned by Disney Cruise Line, which is part of The Walt Disney Company’s business empire.

This 16-deck giant ranks among the largest passenger ships, with about 1,500 crew members on board, and it can carry 4,000 passengers across 14 passenger decks. It is based in Port Canaveral, just 95 km from the magnificent Walt Disney World entertainment complex in Orlando. Obviously, children and their parents make up the majority of the Disney cruise ship’s passengers, and, of course, everything on board is geared toward family vacations.

The ship’s routes run between ports in Florida and the Bahamas. You can take a 3- to 5-day cruise aboard it. Every such trip includes a mandatory stop at Castaway Cay—a small Bahamian island owned by Disney Cruise Line, home to another Disney entertainment center featuring beaches, yacht and submarine rentals, a cable car, and more.

Passenger Accommodations

The cruise ship features 1,250 comfortable cabins, divided into 4 categories and 10 types. The stylishly designed rooms with comfortable furnishings provide the best possible conditions for every passenger and include everything needed for a comfortable stay and relaxation. Special attention is given to families with young children and people with disabilities.

Dining

No passenger will go hungry on the Disney Dream cruise ship! They can always enjoy delicious meals at several restaurants, each with a unique themed interior and its own signature dishes. At the Royal Palace restaurant, service is, of course, fit for a king, and every little girl will feel like a real princess here. And at the Animator’s Palate restaurant, you can create your own unique desserts.

Sports and Attractions

The most famous and popular attraction on the Disney Dream cruise ship is the AquaDuck super-water slide. It’s a transparent tube that starts on Deck 12. A stream of water flows through it, and a two-person inflatable raft carries thrill-seekers over various parts of the ship, finally splashing into a cozy lagoon on Deck 4 at the end of the dizzying ride.

Unfortunately for the kids—and much to the relief of the adults—the AquaDuck has age and height restrictions, so not everyone who wants to ride can get on. But the cruise ship has everything covered, with a smaller slide—Mickey’s Slide—as well as a water park for the little ones—Nemo’s Reef.

Safety protocols are strictly enforced at all attractions: life jackets are provided, and instructors constantly monitor the situation.

For adults who find the heat or the children’s joyful screams hard to bear, there is a special pool with refreshing mist and a jacuzzi area.

Of course, you can have fun and stay active while staying dry. There are sports fields, a fitness center, and a kids’ golf course.

Entertainment

In addition to the entertainment available on a typical cruise ship (such as slot machines), the Disney Dream cruise ship offers a wide variety of activities and features dedicated areas for all age groups:

  • Very young children (up to 3 years old) can be taken to the Small World Nursery.
  • Older children (ages 3–12) will find fun activities at the Oceaneer Club—there are many rooms and halls with vibrant, fantasy-themed designs or featuring Disney characters, where they can play, conduct experiments, and even make cartoons.
  • For teens, the Edge zone is dedicated to computer technology, but here you can also dance, sing karaoke, and show off your acting skills.
  • For those who consider themselves adults (ages 14–17), there’s the ultra-modern Vibe zone—featuring a hi-tech design, modular furniture that can be moved to change the layout, computer games, videos, and a disco where you can not only dance but also become a DJ yourself.
  • Parents, left unsupervised, can wait for their children to finish in their own cozy area with a pool, bar, and café. And at night, when the tired children fall asleep, they can let loose at the nightclub or relax in a trendy restaurant.

And there are shows and events every day! Autograph sessions and photo ops with your favorite cartoon characters, interactive performances where everyone plays a role, and helping the detective agency solve a mysterious case.

In short, a cruise on the Disney Dream is a series of action-packed, vibrant, and unforgettable days.
